A Busy First Half

A fig cut in two halves on a blue plate.
Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, that whether or not I come and see you, I may hear of your activities, that you are standing fast in one spirit, with one mind, striving together for the faith of the gospel. Philippians 1:27

So much has happened in the last six months that the time feels short. It’s hard to believe we are already halfway through the year. It's been a busy first half!

Ministry leaders

Tabole has been a deacon for more than seven years. That's longer than I have been a pastor here at Faith Baptist Church! We are so grateful for the blessing he and his family have been to the church as well as to me personally. He will be taking a break from leadership responsibilities. That means this God ordained office is now vacant at our little church. Pray with us that God would raise a family to take up this leadership role and come alongside Corlene and me.

Two people have taken up "Head of Ministry" positions.

Daryl is now the head of Audio- Visual and will be leading our efforts to make our worship services more accessible both online and in person.

Rowena is head of our newly formed Housekeeping Ministry. This includes overseeing cleaning and hospitality, organising volunteers, and the organisation of every room and cupboard on the premises.

Out of action

In January, I began to experience pain in my neck. After several months of ever-increasing pain, I went for an operation where they replaced one of my cervical disks. Praise the Lord that it all went well! My over a month-long recovery meant that many of my responsibilities fell to Corlene, as well as other church members. The pulpit was filled by preachers from Benoni Bible Church, and we even had the pleasure of two of our supported missionaries coming to preach! I thank the Lord for each of you and your sending congregations!

Using our God given gifts

My eyes were opened in a new way to the health struggles of other people in our congregation. Chronic pain, liver diseases, and cancer (to name just a few) are a daily reality for some here at FBC. Always continue to pray and intercede for each other in love and thanksgiving. It's a gift!

Corlene spent the last six months painting artworks for our church by reusing two large canvases that hung in the front of the auditorium. It was worth all the effort and time to finally see them hanging in the church. It is inspiring! We must recognise our God given gifts - both spiritual and natural - and then use those gifts to bring glory to God.

We have several promising musicians in our Youth, and two faithful ladies recently braved the platform to be song leaders.

Hoping in glory together

As we continue in our 2025 theme of "Hoping in Glory", there are many church events and fellowship opportunities to look forward to. Including, but not limited to, our Friends & Family Sunday, Missions Sunday, monthly and termly Ladies' events, weekly (online) Growth Group - and that's not even the events we get to join, hosted by other churches!

These are all opportunities to reflect on the Glory we hope in; a chance to be a testimony for His glory. We continue to “strive together for the faith of the Gospel.” Amen

In His Power and for His Glory,

Pastor Clive
