Hebrews 13:8 "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever."
I remember our first day at Shamwari4Jesus, a school serving the children in the squatter camps. All of the kids just stared at us skeptically as we walked through the hallway. However, by the third time that we visited, those same skeptical children were meeting us at the car and the once orderly lines waiting outside of each classroom turned into chaos as we walked down that same hallway. They ran toward us freely, nothing holding them back. They knew who we were, the games that we had played together, and they trusted that our character would remain the same.
The kingdom belongs to ones such as these
We have much to learn from these little ones… the kingdom of heaven belongs to them (Matthew 19:13-15). In the same way, when we first encounter the Lord, it is okay to be skeptical, but once we have experienced the character and faithfulness of God we can run freely into the arms of our heavenly Father, holding nothing back. Scripture tells us that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8). We don’t need to be cautious as we approach the Father. He is so good and will continue to be so. As adults, most of us have grown out of this childlike manner of trusting God so wholeheartedly.
Let’s be “young at heart”
Brothers and sisters in Christ, I want to encourage you today to put all your trust into the Lord, with childlike faith, and see how the Lord moves powerfully in your life.
